The hurricane emergencies of this summer have alerted all of us to the many responsibilities of Emergency Management Agencies. Warrington Township Emergency Management Agency works in coordination with York County Emergency Management Agency. Information can be obtained from the York County website at http://www.ycdes.org and follow the easy steps to access Emergency Services. Important TMI Emergency information is available here.
Where to go if you are asked to evacuate:
Warrington Township residents take PA 177 and PA 74 West to PA 194 south to US 30 west to: New Oxford Jr/Sr High School complex.
During an emergency York County will activate a rumor control number 800-762-8187. If there is a siren malfunction and a siren inadvertently sounds call county officials at 800-427-8347 to report the malfunction. Indications of a siren malfunction is a siren sounding for more than five minutes or a siren sounding with no accompanying message on the emergency alert stations.
If you hear a 3 to 5 minute steady siren tone -
Step 1: Turn on your radio or television to an emergency alert station for your county.
Step 2: Listen for official information and instructions for your county.
Step 3: Follow instructions of emergency officials:
You may be asked to TAKE SHELTER/stay indoors or you may be asked to EVACUATE. If an evacuation is recommended while classes are in session, students will be bused to a designated host school outside the emergency planning zone. The students will be cared for at the host school until parents arrive to pick them up. Specific information concerning student pick-up points is provided to parents by school officials. If you do not know the designated pick-up point for your child's school, contact the school principal or district superintendent and request this important information now.
Wellsville Elementary School has students within the 10-mile radius circle of TMI.
